The Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. Christopher Parish meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30–8:00 p.m. in Bethlehem (the Cry Room). This ministry brings together parishioners who share their time and talent to create handmade gifts that offer comfort, warmth, and prayerful support to those in need. Together, we create:

  • Prayer shawls and lap blankets for individuals who are ill, grieving, or in need of encouragement and prayer
  • Baby blankets gifted at Baptism to warmly welcome the newest members of our parish family
  • Hats and scarves donated to the parish Food Pantry to provide warmth during the colder months

Each finished item is more than a handmade gift — it is a sign of Christ’s love. When a piece is completed, the entire group gathers to pray over and bless the gift, asking God to bring comfort, peace, and hope to the person who receives it.

While our creations bless others, participants often find they are equally blessed. The fellowship, laughter, and shared prayer create a supportive and uplifting community. Many who had never knitted before joined the group and, with the guidance of experienced members, discovered knitting to be a peaceful and restorative way to relax and serve others at the same time. Whether you are an experienced knitter or have never picked up needles before, you are warmly invited to join us.
