We want to do our best to remember and celebrate the life of your loved one. We ask for your help selecting the readings and music to best honor your loved one. Below is an outline for the funeral liturgy.

  1. ENTRANCE PROCESSION AND GATHERING SONG
    (The procession is as follows: Celebrant, Casket, Family)

  2. INTRODUCTORY RITES (Stand) (Front of Church by the Altar)
    -Greeting
    -Sprinkling with Holy Water
    -Placing of the Funeral Pall (This may be done by the family or funeral home)

  3. EULOGY (Optional) (Sit)
    -1 or 2 eulogies, written down and read, no longer than 5 minutes each.

  4. Prayer (Stand)

  5. LITURGY OF THE WORD
    -First Reading (sit)
    -Responsorial Psalm (sung)
    -Second Reading (sit)
    -Gospel Acclamation (sung; stand)
    -Gospel Homily (sit)
    -General Intercessions (stand)

  6. LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
    -Presentation of the Gifts (sit) (hymn or instrumental music)
    -Invitation to Prayer (stand)
    -Eucharistic Prayer (kneel or sit)

  7. COMMUNION RITE
    -The Lord's Prayer (stand)
    -Rite of Peace
    -Breaking of the Bread (kneel or sit)
    -Communion Procession & Song

  8. PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION (stand)

  9. FINAL COMMENDATION (prayer and incensing of the casket)
    -Song of Farewell (sung) (Pallbearers take Casket to Hearse)
